What’s the state of privacy on Ethereum in 2024? Are there viable alternatives to tornado cash yet?

Railgun is decent for transfer (haven't done too much research if privacy level is as strong as tornado cash but I think it is?

Railgun is a bit different in the sense that you can have privacy at rest, as soon as you shield funds to a private address they remain private until you pull them out. Also, as you mention there are private transfers swaps and DeFi, anonymity is boosted from the type of interactions you can do.
