It's Sunday, and I'm about to go run a 10k like a boss. Before I do that, let me map out the vision for @griv.
Griv is a social fitness app with the camera as your companion.
What sits behind the camera is AI, as you interact with the world around you, it gives you feedback. If you're an AI doomsayer, perhaps not the product for you.
No, Griv will likely not connect to your fitness device, most users and VCs have asked me this. That would make Griv just like every other product on the market.
We're doing something that's never been done before, and making a bet that the camera lens will give you more insights about fitness and many other categories than trackers.
AI vision models are already insanely good, and they’re getting better faster. There are ~7 billion camera lenses connected to smartphones all over the world. Just imagine what we can see and do.
At this stage, Griv wants to make posting your fitness content more fun and social. We do this with fitness photos + AI tagging + streaks + leaderboard + social sharing on Farcaster or TBA.
The tools to record and share through Griv will get much better, now it's photos, tomorrow it's video that will clip itself in one shot. The editing tools will be best in class.
We listen to feedback and watch behavior carefully. If there's anything I learned building product for the last 3 years is that user feedback and behavior are two completely different things. Behavior > feedback, so if we don't integrate a suggestion, do not be upset.
Incentives are something I think about all the time, naturally being in crypto it's top of mind for all users, angels, and VCs. I get it, I'm not averse to it, but I think we need to think deeply how far we want to penetrate mainstream users. Even uttering the word earn, token and etc yields the question of "how" and for me, that's an extra layer of mental friction for the end user. Blackbird does this well.
Lastly, Griv needs to stand on its own as a separate iOS/Android app. A client atop Farcaster protocol. Mainstream users cannot be double onboarded, to Farcaster and then a mini app. Many users of Griv have asked if they can add Griv app to their mobile homescreen. The answer is soon.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and as always, Griv on! 10 replies
