Just found out that @base is using @irys_xyz Datachain — and honestly… I’m surprised by how powerful this is.
Irys is basically a datachain — a blockchain optimized for storing data onchain in a permanent, immutable, and censorship-resistant way. What’s even cooler: it allows you to pay for storage using ETH directly on Base.
That means when an NFT is minted on Base with metadata stored on Irys, it becomes permanently retrievable — and you can even simulate mutability to create dynamic NFTs that change over time or based on onchain actions.
In other words, @base is combining L2 scalability with the immutability of @irys_xyz’s decentralized storage.
A combination that could redefine how projects handle data, NFTs, and onchain applications.
Didn’t expect to see this level of integration happening this early. 👀
