I agree with a lot here. My question is what can the political left (which is losing in almost all western democracies now) do to create a compelling counter-narrative to right-wing populism? This election was easily winnable if the democrats had run a competent campaign and also contemplated on some wildly unpopular positions. We need a strong political left for healthy and balanced political democracies, but their current portfolio of ideas just is simply not resonating with voters in so many western nations.
