I don’t believe in love, but if you do, here’s some dating tips on how to do it “IRL” (gift link) https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/06/well/dating-irl-analog-online.html?unlocked_article_code=1.NU8.CGcY.NwN_40JJo5df&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

I've thought about your comment since I read it. I'd love to hear a slightly longer form articulation. Your view on romantic relationships. When you came to these views (born with it? An event? Gradually?). Feelings/reactions vs conscious decisions/choices. I assume you refer to romantic love.

I mean, the idea of love marriage or soulmates is so modern. It’s a new idea. Love is a rebranding of traditional economic/social alliances. We want the feeling of autonomy and romance while still obeying market logic. When people say they want love, underneath they really are most often saying “I want love within a narrow band of acceptable options”
